The Jemima 10 Cows Basket – Ardhi Verde Medium is a sculptural handwoven storage basket in bold multicolour banding, sized between the full-size Jemima and the Tiny, for those who want a piece that brings warmth and colour into a room the moment it’s placed. Handwoven in Bolgatanga, Ghana by artisan studio Baba Tree, the silhouette was originated by master weaver Jemima Akolgo, whose innovative design sparked a movement in her community and is now celebrated worldwide.

Ardhi Verde layers deep green, rust, black, and natural fibre into wide horizontal bands, with a diagonal zigzag worked around the widest point of the basket. The effect is rich and layered, bringing colour and movement into a room without losing the silhouette’s sculptural form.

Named after Jemima Akolgo, this basket is a study in legacy.

What begins as a master weaver’s innovation becomes a tactile heirloom through elephant grass. The layered banding she originated is carried forward not as decoration, but as structure passed down through generations of Gurunsi weavers.

This is slow craft, where four days of hand-weaving live in every curve.

Handwoven by Baba Tree artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana, each basket is made from 100% sustainably harvested elephant grass using the secure double-strand twist weave. The technique enhances durability while preserving the graceful movement of the form, allowing each piece to function as both heirloom and sculpture.

Jemima Akolgo was the first woman in Bolgatanga to weave this innovative silhouette. Each basket carries her legacy in every thread, and the style she originated is now woven by artisans across the Baba Tree community.

Ardhi Verde was developed as a colourful, layered expression of that same silhouette, for those drawn to warmth and pattern.
