"Shakara" Contemporary Black Art Print
"Shakara" Contemporary Black Art Print is a bold piece of Nigerian art celebrating confidence, memory, and cultural identity. For collectors building layered, story-driven interiors.
Shakara can be a first defining art moment or a piece that layers effortlessly into an already collected space. Your home will feel more intentional and more defined with Shakara gracing the walls.
Where it lives beautifully:
Placed with intention, it becomes the piece everything responds to.
- Above a console, where colour and character anchor the room
- Within a gallery wall, adding depth and narrative to the composition
- Along a hallway, creating a moment that invites pause
- In an intimate corner, where smaller scale still carries presence
A Story of Nostalgia, Style & Cultural Ritual
Shakara reflects the warmth and significance of the Sunday-best tradition. The practice of dressing with intention, flair, and pride for church. Chiwete brings this memory to life through theatrical poses, bold colours, and clothing that vibrates with character. The work captures a shared cultural experience: the joy of preparation, the energy of self-expression, and the youthful desire to be seen.
With oversized sunglasses, patterned dresses, and playful high heels, the scene celebrates the pride, creativity, and excitement of getting ready for Sunday service, a cherished ritual in many Nigerian families. Their expressive styling and luminous confidence transform an ordinary moment into a rich cultural memory.
The art print lives between memory and storytelling, honouring how fashion becomes a symbol of identity in Nigerian communities. Instead of critiquing the past, Chiwete celebrates it, preserving the magic of youthful confidence and the cultural vibrancy that surrounds the churchgoing ritual.
